Top water fly with exceptional results in salt water esturaries. It isn't a popper, but is very sporadic when stripping. The head is foam and body hollow which holds an air pocket until your next cast. As far as I can tell there isn't another fly like this and I haven't come up with a name for it, so open for suggestions

I found some large cell foam tomato ties with a piece of metal through the center and removed the metal leaving a hole through the center. Cut at an angle about an inch long. Start your base thread and go back 1.5 inches from the eye. Slide the cut foam over the eye and tie in the tip of the foam with the angle you cut, firm but you'll want to slide it up later. You can wrap your thread to make the head shape with the foam if you want but the more air in the open cell foam the better so the less wraps the better. Finish tying the foam at the eye.
